Future Leader Development Program

An opportunity for graduating U18 players and young coaches

May 8, 2025

Good afternoon,

As part of Hockey Alberta’s ongoing commitment to Hockey for Life, we are excited to share an opportunity that may benefit some of your graduating U18 players or young coaches who are attending university or college in the fall.

The Future Leader Development Program is designed to empower post-secondary students as they begin their coaching journey. Through hands-on training, leadership development, and ongoing mentorship, this program provides the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to inspire and lead the next generation of players.

Program Vision: To ignite a new generation of coaches who inspire, lead, and grow the game.

Program Mission: To support young coaches with the knowledge, tools, confidence, and mentorship they need to lead with purpose and make a lasting impact on the game.

Participants will also have the opportunity to earn a scholarship by being selected to coach with Team Alberta’s summer programs or the High Performance 1 - Player Development Program. Only 24 applicants will be selected through a competitive application process.

We encourage you to share this opportunity with eligible players and young coaches within your association who may be pursuing post-secondary education and are passionate about giving back to the game through coaching.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
