Section One: Governing Play
a. All VDMHA rules are in effect unless otherwise stated
Section Two: Teams
a. Only registered players on team rosters may play
b. A team shall be composed on 9 skaters and 1 goalie
c. Each team will play with 3 players and 1 goalie on the ice
d. If a goaltender is not available for a team, a player may dress as a goalie if equipment available or a shooter tutor may be used
Section Three: Rules of Play
a. All games will be non-contact (No bodychecking)
b. Each session will consist of two 30 minute games (teams switch halfway though 1 hour ice session)
c. VDMHA reserves the right to balance teams anytime during the season to ensure maximum competitiveness and enjoyment for all players
d. All games will begin with a centre ice face-off
e. All games will be officiated by a referee or a coach
f. Penalties will be called and may result in a player being sent off the ice or a penalty shot at the discretion of the referee or coach
g. If a goal is scored or a goalie freezes the puck, the opposing team will exit the zone and the goalie or referee/coach will play the puck to a defending player and play will resume (No faceoff)
h. Delinquent behavior on the ice will not be tolerated. Offenders may be suspended at the discretion of VDMHA
Section Four: Shifts
a. Player shifts will be 2 minutes in length. A buzzer will signal the end of each shift
b. Bench doors must remain closed until the sound of the buzzer
c. Once the buzzer sounds, players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice. The new players may enter onto the ice surface immediately
d. If possible, the referee or coach will put the puck into a neutral location for the players coming onto the ice. There will not be a faceoff at the start of each shift.
e. If possible, there will be coaches on the benches to assist in opening the doors and ensuring equal ice time
